3D MAMMOGRAPHY CUTS PATIENT ANXIETY

A recently released study from the Yale School of Medicine revealed use of 3D digital breast tomosynthesis (3D mammography) cut the recall rate of screening mammograms by 40%. Recalls for questionable findings, which are usually not cancer but must be evaluated to prove this, are a cause of anxiety and stress for many women. Additionally, decreasing the recall rate may prove to be more cost effective in the long term than the current practice. SJRA is the only imaging practice in New Jersey to offer 3D tomosynthesis.
