The Women’s Imaging team is led by Dr. Catherine Piccoli, the former Director of Breast Imaging at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Piccoli has more than 15 years experience in breast MRI and breast biopsy. She was co-investigator of several multi-institutional studies on breast MRI, digital mammography, and ultrasound.
Most recently she has been involved in evaluating Tomosynthesis—a more advanced form of digital mammography—in conjunction with Hologic and Massachusetts General Hospital. She is currently the principal investigator at SJRA evaluating a new computer-aided design (CAD) program to be used with Digital mammography.
For the past two years, Dr. Piccoli was named as one of the nation’s top ten Women’s Imagers by a vote of her peers, and in 2006 she was selected as the Top Women’s Imager in the U.S.
Dr. Piccoli heads a group of over 20 dedicated women’s imagers including the two most recent additions to the team. Dr. Renee Kendzierski, who joined SJRA from Temple University, and Dr. Beth Blumenthal, from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
