POSITION: Patient Aide

LOCATION & SHIFTS

Washington Township

Monday-Friday: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist patients before and after studies
• Communicate instructions from Radiologists to patient and/or Technologist
• Responsibilities include PACS System, Intergy System, Powerscribe
• Merge studies in PACS
• Printing/retrieving images
• Some Reading Room Assistant responsibilities
• Stocking/restocking exam rooms
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Detail oriented
• Good communication skills
• Enjoys people contact
• Good computer skills

SJRA JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PATIENT AIDE

SUMMARY – To support and assist technologist in care of patients

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Escort patients from main waiting area to department for studies
• Review and verify patient’s information for accuracy
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and Corporate Compliance regulations
• Have patient change; if indicated for study
• Daily computer keyboard use
• Monitor modality work list
• Keep the work area stocked, orderly and clear
• Release images to patients when necessary
• Communicate information to radiologists, technologists and patients
• Train in the Reading Room as a Reading Room Assistant, as applicable
• Cross train in other department as support staff
• Display a well groomed professional image
• All other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES – There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent

Training and Experience

• Prior experience in a medical setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

• Detail oriented
• Ability to multitask in a busy work environment
• Good computer skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, their family members, co-workers, and referring physicians’ offices

Physical Demands of the Position – Position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling and reaching during scheduled shift. Assist patients on and off exam tables.

Working Conditions – Indoor office setting with daily patient contact. There is the potential of exposure to blood and other body fluids.
