Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

For instructions for your MRI appointment, click on the plus (+) sign next to the name of your procedure below:

Make sure your hair is completely dry.

You will be required to remove all clothing including undergarments. MRI appropriate pants, gown, and socks will be provided at the time of service.

If you have had radiology images relevant to this exam at another facility, bring them with you to the appointment.

If your last Mammogram was performed at another facility, bring your CD with you to the appointment.

Arrive 1 ½ hours (90 minutes) prior to your appointment.

Do NOT have anything to eat or drink 3 hours before your examination.

If your doctor has prescribed Levsin 0.125 mg sublingual tabs (2 tabs) bring the actual medication to the appointment, not the prescription.

Do not wear metallic, glitter or magnetic nail polish as these may contain metals that can interact with the MRI magnet.

Arrive 20 minutes prior to your appointment

Do not have any caffeine products on the day of your study.

Do NOT have anything to eat or drink three (3) hours before your examination.

If you have had 2D Echo, EKG or CT Chest at another facility, bring the report with you to the appointment.

Script must state 3D Rendering or 3D Reconstruction.

  • Fleet Enema (1)
  • Gas X Tablets (Two (2))

The DAY BEFORE your appointment:

Eat a light diet. Avoid heavy foods such as heavy pasta or steak, or highly spiced foods that can cause digestive disturbances.

The NIGHT BEFORE your appointment:

Take one (1) Gas X tablet

The DAY OF your appointment:

Take one (1) Gas X tablet the morning of your exam

Use the Fleet enema TWO hours prior to your exam

Do NOT eat or drink anything else three (3) hours before your appointment
