Using a special form of ultrasound called Doppler, the speed and direction of flowing blood can be measured and illustrated in color pictures. A vascular doppler ultrasound requires no special preparation. You want to avoid wearing jewelry around the area that is being studied. No nicotine products can be consumed prior to the study due to its effects on blood vessels, which can skew results.
